An honorable appreciation for a work or a talent of a person is something which is ordinary for many artists. But in case of A R Rahman these appreciations are getting eager being with him. He won his Maiden national awards for his first movie Roja. The maestro of Indian music has been showered with rain of Awards and
recognitions from all over the world in
his life and his career. Even though the
legend had succeeded in many
achievements Indian musicians
dreamed of Like Academy awards,
Grammy’s, BAFTA, Golden Globe etc.,
He is still a Humble, Modest and down
to earth person. Rahman is a great
believer, he believes working with
dedication for making quality music is
primary and everything else will follow.
He used to say normally a tamil quote
“Ella pugalum iraivanukke” after winning
awards which means every praise is to the god.

Some Notable Achievements of A. R Rahman

Rahman won Rajat Kamal Award, National film Award for Best Music Direction in Indian Film Industry for his first composition in the movie Roja in 1993. It was for the first time a debutant getting the award.

A R Rahman is a Six time Winner of Indian national Film awards and 32 Filmfare Awards in which 17 of them for south for his Compositions. This a record for an Indian composer.

Government of Tamilnadu honored him by giving Kalaimamani award in 1995 for his excellence in the field of music.

In 2001 he is awarded with Awadh samman by the government of Uttar Pradesh for his exceptional and meritorious contribution in music and In 2004 he won National Lata mageshkar award by the government of Madhya Pradesh his contributions to Music.

Government of India Honored A R Rahman with Padma Shri in 2000 and Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his excellence and valuable contributions in music.

He had received Honorary doctorates from Anna University, Chennai, Aligarh University and Middlesex University, London in 2009 and from Royal conservatoire of Scotland and Berklee College of music, United states in 2014.

He Won Two Academy Awards Best original score and Best original song for the Movie Slumdog Millionaire at the 81st Academy awards. For this Movie Rahman also had won Broadcast film critics association award, Golden Globe award for Best original score, BAFTA award for best film Music and had won Two Grammy Awards for Best Compilation soundtrack album and Best song Written For Visual Media.

The government of Seychelles Named A R Rahman Cultural ambassador of Seychelles on October 4th 2015, in appreciation of the invaluable services contributed to enhance Seychelles arts and cultural developments.

On November 2013, A street was named in rahman’s name to honour in markham, Ontario, Canada.
